- Four years as Liberal Democrat group leader on the North London Waste Authority, covering Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington, and Waltham Forest
- Sat on the City Fringe Partnership, covering the City, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Islington and Camden
- A decade’s experience at the Sports Council, ready to harness the Olympic legacy
- Islington Cabinet member for regeneration, community safety, and environment, securing the regeneration benefits of the Emirates Stadium, leading on transport policy and the London Plan
- Member of the party’s ‘Facing the Future’ manifesto working group
It is vital that our Assembly members can cross-examine the Mayor and speak up for London. As Deputy Leader of Islington Council, Bridget was lead member for Partnerships (regeneration, community relations, equality and community safety) and then lead member for Sustainability (planning, transport, waste management and fighting climate change).

Bridget led the Liberal Democrat group on the North London Waste Authority and on the ALG (now London Councils) Transport & Environment Committee. She represented boroughs at meetings with Government Ministers, TfL, the Mayor of London and others key players.
Bridget has been a CHC Vice-Chair, school governor and charity trustee and spoken to Parliamentary Committees and national conferences. Bridget can master a brief quickly and is unafraid to hold big names to account, challenging Ken Livingstone on the London Plan, and lobbying Ministers on the Licensing Act. All the areas in her past portfolios are relevant to the work of the London Assembly.
The new GLA will be elected for 2012-2016. Two crucial areas for London in that period will be the Olympic legacy and making London’s economy more sustainable. Bridget worked for a decade for the Sports Council and went on to lead on maximising the benefits for Islington of the new Arsenal stadium.
A founder member of the 10:10 campaign, Bridget has a long-term commitment to environmental policy, from green buildings to renewable energy and waste minimisation and won a National Transport Award for her work on sustainable transport.
