Transport: Keeping London moving

Bridget is an award-winning campaigner on transport issues

Getting transport right is crucial to London’s economy and Londoners’ quality of life, as well as fighting climate change

Bridget’s priorities:

  • Keep Crossrail and other major schemes on track
  • champion walking
  • better integration of existing transport services
  • developing more low carbon transport options

Bridget has years of experience speaking up for Londoners on transport, including four years as Leader of the Liberal Democrat group on the London-wide Transport & Environment Committee, lobbying Ministers and the Mayor on behalf of all London boroughs.

Bridget has negotiated with London Underground over tube upgrades, and lobbied TfL to improve bus services. She promoted one of London’s largest car clubs to help reduce congestion and pollution.

Bridget has led transport campaigns both as a councillor and a community campaigner, including persuading Tfl to create a new pedestrian crossing on the A1 at the Angel. She is an active supporter of Living Streets and is passionate about providing the best possible walking environments; everyone is a pedestrian for part of their journey. Bridget has been appointed a reserve member of the London Travelwatch Board.

In 2006, Bridget won a National Transport Award for her campaigning on sustainable transport.
